Transportation of Untaxed Goods
In compliance with the Lithuanian Customs Regulations, a passenger coming into the Republic of Lithuania from any third countries may take in the following items without being taxed of levied:
- Personal use items;
- Work tools, tools for studying, items required for settlement;
- Presents received for wedding from persons residing in a third country;
- Vehicle for personal use;
Non-commercial items in personal hand luggage (taken into the country on irregular basis for personal use of passengers or their family members, or intended for presents), unless their total value exceeds 600 Litas.
Restricted Goods
A passenger over 17 may take untaxed the following:

Duties and Taxes
In transportation of goods not exceeding 600–1210 Litas value, 3.5 % customs duty is payable, as well as excise duty and VAT. In transportation of goods exceeding 1210 Litas value, customs duties and other taxes are imposed in compliance with legal acts in regulation of payment of import duties, excise duties and value added taxes.
Where the value of transported goods does not exceed 3500 Litas, they may be declared orally. Where the value of transported goods exceeds 3500 Litas, a written declaration must be supplied.
Cash
Pursuant to legal acts applicable in the Republic of Lithuania, a single amount of cash exceeding 10 thousand Litas or equal amount in any foreign currency taken to Lithuania from countries other than the EU member states, or taken from Lithuania to the aforementioned states must be declared in writing at the Customs Office of the Republic of Lithuania under supply of a passenger’s declaration.
Foodstuffs
Passengers are prohibited to bring into the European Union from any third countries any meat, milk, as well as any meat and milk products in their personal luggage.
When Traveling inside the EU
When Traveling inside the European Union, quantities of acquired or transported goods are not limited provided that such goods are intended for personal use, not for sale, and VAT and customs duties are included in their price, and such goods are not taxed in other EU member state.
Every country may fix different quantities of tobacco products and alcohol drinks as intended for personal use. If you carry more extensive quantity of such goods, you may be asked to supply documents in proof that they are intended for personal use. Allowable quantities in any country should be at least:
- 800 cigarettes,
- 400 cigarillos,
- 200 cigars,
- 1 kg tobacco,
- 10 litres of strong drinks,
- 20 litres of spirited wine (e.g. port wine or sherry),
- 90 litres wine (not exceeding 60 litres of sparkling wine out of this number), and
- 110 litres beer.
By the end of 2009 Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Germany, United Kingdom and France apply certain restrictions on cigarette quantities brought from the eight new member states that joined the EU in 2004 (Lithuania including). Upon coming to the aforementioned countries from Lithuania, passengers are allowed to bring 200 cigarettes for personal use. For quantities exceeding the limitation an excise duty apply.
